Greetings from the other side of the globe!

At this moment, I’m sitting in the Chongqing University library. Sunlight spills unto my paper, beams of light dancing between the bamboo leaves outside the window. The beauty of this campus is breathtaking, lifting my spirits just as your deep love for me always has. You do not need to worry about me, though I am so far from your embrace. I have found an amazing group of friends, learned much about Chinese culture, and tried many exciting new things!

此刻，我正坐在重庆大学的图书馆里。阳光洒在信笺上，窗外的光线在摇曳的竹叶间飞舞。这座校园的美景令人惊叹，如同你们对我的深爱，总能让我心情明朗。虽然我远离你们的怀抱，但请不要为我担心。我在这里结识了一群很棒的朋友，深入了解了中国文化，还尝试了许多令人兴奋的新鲜事！

I’ve come so far since arriving in this futuristic city ten months ago. At that time, I struggled to adapt to daily life, but thanks to the patient guidance of my roommate, I’ve mastered the art of paying with QR codes, navigating the city’s extensive subway network, shopping on Taobao, and more! I no longer carry a wallet; it feels so strange not worrying about loosing it! Now, I pull out my phone and the world is at my fingertips.

自从十个月前来到重庆这座充满未来感的城市，到今天我已经成长了许多。这段时间，我努力适应日常生活。多亏室友的耐心指导，我掌握了用二维码支付、乘坐错综复杂的地铁、在淘宝购物等技能。现在，我出门不再携带钱包，只需要掏出手机，世界就在指尖，这种感觉真是太奇妙了！

Studying at Chongqing University was full of challenges, especially at the beginning of the school year. But thankfully, I have not walked this road alone! Teachers, classmates, and international students all lent me their support, and now I’m thriving in my studies. Oh, and my Chinese has improved rapidly! I used to struggle every time I opened my mouth to speak, but now I joke freely with my classmates, read books, and even understand local shopkeepers when they speak the Chongqing dialect (well, if they speak slowly, that is!). The first time I opened a novel written in Mandarin to relax after a long day was a truly magical moment for me. It is a memory which will always remind me of the challenges I’ve overcome and the joy that lies on the other side.

在重庆大学的学习充满挑战，尤其是开学初期。但幸运的是，我并非独自前行。老师、中国学生和留学生都给予了我支持，现在我的学业进展顺利，中文也进步神速。曾经，我每次开口说话都很吃力，但现在我已经可以和同学用中文自由地开玩笑、读书，甚至能听懂当地店主说的重庆方言（当然，在他们说得慢的时候）。漫长的一天后，我会翻开一本中文小说放松心情，那一刻对我来说真是太神奇了。这段记忆将让我时常想起曾经克服过的挑战以及战胜挑战后的喜悦。

Dear Mom and Dad, thank you for supporting my decision to study abroad in China. Every time I hear the charming twitter of foreign birds or try the mouthwatering flavors of unfamiliar foods, I recall how far I am from home, and how much you miss me. But I also remember how proud you are of me and your hope for me: that I study diligently and spread love and joy to everyone I know. Your faith in me has given me the warmth of the Chongqing summer sun and your love has given me the energy I need to navigate every challenge in this new land.

Right now, the evening glow outside the library is painting the sky red—just like the sunsets back home. Every day here is full of surprise and growth. I’m constantly learning and growing in the amazing cultural crossroads at CQU. I know you miss me, but please don’t worry about me—I’m thriving. I’ll carry your love with me as I continue to explore this fascinating country.
